{"id":6540,"date":"2012-12-30T17:52:04","date_gmt":"2012-12-31T00:52:04","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.skilletchronicles.com\/content\/?p=6540"},"modified":"2012-12-30T17:52:04","modified_gmt":"2012-12-31T00:52:04","slug":"heres-to-a-bubbly-2013","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.skilletchronicles.com\/content\/heres-to-a-bubbly-2013\/","title":{"rendered":"Here&#8217;s to a bubbly 2013"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.skilletchronicles.com\/content\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/12\/Bubbly-ginger-cocktail.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"550\" height=\"804\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-6541\" title=\"Bubbly ginger cocktail\" src=\"https:\/\/www.skilletchronicles.com\/content\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/12\/Bubbly-ginger-cocktail.jpg\" alt=\"\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.skilletchronicles.com\/content\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/12\/Bubbly-ginger-cocktail.jpg 550w, https:\/\/www.skilletchronicles.com\/content\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/12\/Bubbly-ginger-cocktail-410x600.jpg 410w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 550px) 100vw, 550px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>2012 was a tumultuous year all around.\u00a0 My husband and I pulled up deep roots in California, and shifted all our worldly goods to the Northwest in a chaotic move.\u00a0 Meanwhile, politics kept the entire nation on edge with a nail biter of an election and the economic game of chicken playing out in Washington.\u00a0 Natural disaster and the nightmare in Newtown capped it all off.<\/p>\n<p>I&#8217;m ready to bid this year good riddance and welcome 2013 with open arms.<\/p>\n<p>To toast the occasion, I propose a bubbly new cocktail combining ginger liqueur, a splash of tangerine juice and Prosecco.\u00a0 The liqueur brings new depth and a spicy kick to the sparkling Italian wine while the tangerine juice adds a tropical note.\u00a0 It&#8217;s a festive libation made to order for New Year&#8217;s Eve.<\/p>\n<p>I had never even heard of ginger liqueur before I chanced upon it as an ingredient in a couple of baking recipes this fall.\u00a0 I tracked down a bottle of Domaine de Canton, a French product made with baby ginger and Cognac, and was hooked.\u00a0 Although it has the syrupy texture associated with a liqueur, it&#8217;s only lightly sweet.\u00a0 The ginger flavor, bright and true, is the perfect accent for an inexpensive sparkling wine like Prosecco.<\/p>\n<p>Add a bowl of salted nuts and you&#8217;ve got a party.<\/p>\n<p>Happy 2013 everyone!<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<div id=\"recipe\"><strong>BUBBLY GINGER COCKTAIL<\/strong><br \/>\n<em>Makes 1<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Pour 1 ounce of ginger liqueur into the bottom of a chilled flute.\u00a0 Add a splash of tangerine juice.\u00a0 Top off with Prosecco or other dry sparking wine.\u00a0 Serve.<\/p>\n<p><em>Aleta Watson<\/em><\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>&nbsp;
